These are questions that I’ve been asked so frequently that I’ve decided to answer them all right now in on location. Actually, that’s not true at all. These are questions that no one’s actually asked but I’m using the format to chat about little thingies you can find on the web site.
Q- You’ve got such a nice little avatar that appears whenever you post a comment, but all I’ve got is that little picture that looks like something from a gun range. How can I get a clever little picture like that?
A- The site supports gravatars. That’s a Swedish contraction for Globally Recognized Avatar. Basically there’s a server out there on the internet and if you upload an image you can use that as your avatar at any blog/commenting web site that supports gravatars. If you’ve already set one up at gravatars.com it’ll automatically add the image you’ve selected to your comment based on your e-mail address. If you don’t have one set up, a check box will automatically appear on the comment form asking you if you’d like to set one up. If you check the box and post the comment, gravatar.com will e-mail you with instructions on setting one up. It took me less than 2 minutes to create one. If you’re looking for size specifications for this site, I’m forcing avatars to 60×60 pixels.
Q-I posted a comment, but it doesn’t show up. Where did it go?
A-Spam controls require your first comment to be approved before it shows up on the website. After your first comment is approved, other comments you post will go up automatically.
Q- Can I write something for the site? I’ve got an idea!
