I’m Back

Due to a billing error, by host company contract is paid until late 2012. So PostHumorous.org will be here for at least another year.

Like it or not.

I’m sitting in an airport en route to Iowa via Chicago. Oh, the posts will be flying. (No pun intended, but not deleted either.)

Discontinuing PostHumorous.org Merchandising, Cafe Press, and Go-Daddy Services

Hi folks,

When I started the site way back when, it had two goals… one was to have sales for silly things offered via the site or referal programs offset the cost of the site and secondly to have have other contributers regularly writing so I wasn’t doing it all by myself.

The merchandising program through Cafe Press has been shut down because it was costing more to have the service from Cafe Press and was creating additional costs rather that reducing existing ones. Not being in a position to float that financially, I’ve cut ties with Cafe Press and no longer have items for sale via my site or theirs.

Go-Daddy is the company that I’m using for hosting of the site and the annual renewal for the site hosting, domain, etc is all coming up towards the end of the year as well. The site simply doesn’t draw enough traffic to be self sustainable and I don’t have the resources to continue operating the site at a loss either. I’ll update on this again as I get closer to the renewal dates, but at this time I do not have plans to continue operations of the site beyond the next 60 days.

In the meantime, we’ll probably have a few more riddles to close it out with and perhaps a final PH.org Cast.

OK, after some arm twisting by Schvin, I’ve bit the bullet am using Twitter to help support the web site.

If you’d like to follow the site, get posting alerts (especially riddles), and hear random crap from yours truly, you can follow me @peopleamdumb on the Twitter box.

Over the next few days, I’ll be making the site more Twitter friendly, but for people that want to get a jump on Monday’s riddle notices, you can follow the site now.

This is actually my first Twitter post as well, so we’ll see if it even works.

I’m still on my holiday vacation, but plan to resume regular posting next week. I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday season.

Problem Solvers Take Your Victory Lap

So the riddle contest is over and here are the final results. After 40 riddles over the past 6 months, the top three riddles solvers are:

1. (9 correct): Schvin
2. (7 correct): Cocky, Spammer Sister
3. (6 Correct):Judy

Schvin gets the “Smarty Coffee” mug for being the grand champion. Spam Sister and Judy will get runner up prizes that I’m still working on for 2nd and 3rd place. Mercedes will also be getting a prize for getting the final riddle correct. I’ll e-mail you for shipping information.

Thank you to each of you for participating. Also, last call for those folks who I owe T-shirts for getting hard riddles earlier this year. Send me your mailing address and what shirt you want.

I’m not sure if the weekly riddles will be on-going after the holidays. I may go back to making them posts every now and then. I don’t know yet. I know they are popular, but they’re also pretty tough to regularly write/develop. We’ll see.
